Age is Just a Number
Something I hear *a lot* is some variation on “I’m 45 (or 35 or 55), so I don’t expect my body to look like it did when I was 20. I know it just gets harder and harder to maintain your weight as you get older.”
Okay, I am all for realistic expectations! BUT I’m telling you right here, right now DO NOT SELL YOURSELF SHORT, LADIES! Please do not let your beliefs about aging limit your ability to live to your potential.
Yes, bodies age. Yes, metabolism does slow down a bit as we age (although much of that has to do with lifestyle changes rather than physiology). AND, yes, you can be as awesomely fit and healthy (or more so) at 35, 45, or 55 as you were at 25.
This is something I am totally taking a stand for…you have so much control over the way your body ages. Your beliefs are powerful! Your expectations about how you will age largely determine how you do age.
Remind yourself of all the things that affect how you age that you have control over:
Your diet
The type and amount of activity and exercise you do
Adequate sleep
Stress reduction and stress management techniques that you can put in place
Trying new things, PLAYING, laughing, spending time with friends
It’s worth being open to the idea that you can be healthy, fit, attractive, and VIBRANT as you get older. Make it a conscious intention to be healthier and more youthful tomorrow than you were yesterday.
Find a role model who exemplifies YOUTHFUL AGING …and let that person inspire you!
