When Your Food is Everyone's Business
I once had a boss do the nicest thing for me…she threw me a birthday party at work and she didn’t serve cake and ice cream. Nope. No cake, no ice cream…instead she brought cashews, cheese, grapes, and dark chocolate—all my absolute favorite foods! It was a lovely gesture to show that for my birthday we would break tradition and celebrate with food that I loved. (Sadly, we were missing the wine, but it wasn’t that kind of work place.) Yet I can’t tell you how many times I

2 Choices: 1) Go on another Diet, or 2) Do Something Else
I was talking to a friend on the phone the other day who was telling me that she really wanted to lose some weight. She told me about her plan to do a little Master Cleanse, cut out certain foods most days, and allow some cheat meals/days. The run absolutely kicked my ass. My recovery was slow. I felt

Are Self-Limiting Beliefs Biting You in the Butt?
A lot of times when I ask a client “What do you really, really want?” they tell me their dream and then follow it with a long list of reasons why it’s not going to happen for them. For instance: “I really want to get my Masters degree in nutrition, but it’s just so expensive and I don’t know how I will find the time and I’m worried I won’t be as available for my kids.” Or: “I really want to make exercise a habit, but I just have no discipline and no motivation.” My advice = d

Set Your Mind
A couple of nights ago, I was watching a news story about a particularly awesome 94-year-old man who has been deliberately programming his mind for optimum health and happiness. You can watch it here. This guy is not “off his rocker”, he is as sane as can be, and he has totally tapped into the power of his mind. You’ve probably heard me talk about mindset before—it’s one of my favorite topics, for sure. But what does “mindset” really mean? Your mindset consists of your atti
