I am now a card-carrying member of the Happy Eaters Club. I've found a way of eating that works for me and is totally sustainable over the long-term. I'm consistently well-nourished and never feel deprived or like I can't eat enough to satisfy my hunger.
Your past is past and it does not determine your future.
But the past can be heavy. All of us have been hurt, we've been rejected, and our sense of self-worth has suffered. We have shame, we have regret, and we have guilt. Some of us have had big past trauma.
I talk about how our perception or interpretation of events is more important than the event itself ALL THE TIME. I talk about it because I believe it and I have seen huge shifts in my own life as a result of challenging my perceptions and interpretations.
I spent a lot of time over the past year trying to understand a time in my life when things had gone *a little haywire*. And while I recognized that that this was an important phase in my personal development, I still felt a lot of shame about the person I was then.
